New Abtract Painting

This weekend I had the greatest idea for a new series of paintings! Well maybe not the greatest but a pretty good one at least…

I love reading inspirational quotes because they remind me how wonderful life really is when I forget and they make me feel better when I’m bummed out for one reason or another. So while trying to come up with an idea for a painting I thought I would transfer a quote onto the canvas (my first attempt at this) and see what came of it.

I ended up using two quotes on this one and I really like it even though its kind of messy… The quotes are from Mother Teresa and say “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.” and The greatest disease is to be nobody to anybody.” The second one is a little hard to see but it’s there towards the bottom.

These are two of my favorite quotes because I tend to never be satisfied with my work. Wether its my art, photography or any number of things at home, I always feel like I should do more or do it better. The next is because it’s so important for people to feel loved and cherished. I’m so very grateful and lucky that I have a husband and 3 little people who love the whole me, mood swings, attitudes and all!

Anyway now you have the story behind this one. Here are two pictures of the painting, one is a close up of the two quotes from the wonderful Mother Teresa.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Another work in progress that will probably never be finished

Heres a new painting I started this morning..another oil on canvas panel done only with a palette knife. I love the textures and colors but I realized this is not my favorite kind of paintings to do. I think they look childish and ordinary. I will most likely wipe these off and do some kind of abstracts instead this week.

I want to create work that really “pops” and makes you keep looking, finding new interesting things to see in every part of the painting (sorry not so good at explaining what I mean LOL) Anyway here is the new one and the one from the other day with some more work done to it. You can see the previous post to see what the 2nd one looked like before.

This may be my last post until after the New Year so I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and fun and safe New Year. Happy Holidays!!

Work in progress

This is what I started today. Its an oil painting I’m trying to paint with only a palette knife… Not so bad until I get to the details and then its a pain in the a**

The wooden posts dont look that great yet and still need to work on the water…have to try making the reflections without making it look all muddy and gross. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow…

Oh and this is a small canvas, 6×12 I think. Didnt want to start big since its been so long since I’ve painted with oils :)

You can click on the image for a closer view. Critiques/comments are always welcome!

New Facebook Page

Teal, brown, black and white abstract painting

Working on a commission and this is what I came up with. The original plan was to do a geometric style abstract but I ended up with something totally different. I like how it turned out but have to start all over on another one for the client…

Just a bunch of flowers

Abstract 141

Was finally in the mood to drag all my paints and stuff out of storage to do a painting on canvas. Doesnt happen too often since digital is so much easier for me. So anyway here is one from that day. Hope you like it! Its done with oils and is 18×24 inches. Sides are staple free and painted black. Contact me if you are interested in the original or if you prefer prints are available by clicking on the image. Thanks for stopping by!

Abstract 140

Click on the image for a larger view. This abstract painting definately looks better larger. It makes me think of a cave or tunnel with lights glowing here and there so you can still see along the way,..or maybe outerspace? Who knows but I really liked how it turned out. Thanks for visiting!

Abstract 139

Click on the image to see larger better quality version or to purchase prints. This is a large abstract digital painting created with Photoshop. Using lots of textures, various brushes and many layers to add depth to the painting. This abstract was created large so it can be printed in a variety of sizes up 60 inches on canvas or fine art papers.

Featured Work

My “Let’s Fly Together Forever” image was featured on RedBubbles Home Page today. This is the first time Ive had a feature on the main page :D Click on the image below to go see this work. Thanks!
